Sun Postal Sports manager Paul Hobbs is targeting a top ten finish for his side in their maiden Premier Division campaign.

Sun clinched the Division One title last season, finishing seven points ahead of second placed Kings Langley to secure their place in the top flight for the first time.

Hobbs is not daunted by the Premier Division and feels his players are more than capable of making the step up.

He said: “Everyone at the club is looking forward to our maiden Premier Division campaign.

“I think the players can make the step up and I don’t think there is too much difference between the two divisions.

“As last season’s Division One champions I expect us to do fairly well. I’m hoping we can break into the top ten, I believe that is a realistic expectation for the players we have.”

Sun have kept hold of all but one of last season’s squad. Captain Max Moore has left the club as work commitments meant he couldn’t guarantee his availability.

Hobbs confirmed the club have brought in players and said they were still discussing moves for others.

“I won’t say who those players are because some the deals are not yet done but, if they all go through, then it will strengthen the side,” Hobbs said.

James Armstrong was Kings’ top scorer last season and netted more than 30 times for the club in all competitions.

Hobbs expects the striker to be amongst the goals again this term but also believes he’ll be a distraction for opposition defenders.

He said: “Jimmy will gain the attention of most defenders and opposition managers. I still expect him to score goals though but if everyone is focused on him then that will give room to our other attackers.

“He’s played in the Premier Division before and knows what it is about. He’s 33 now but I know he will still score regularly for us.”

Sun moved into the second round of the Herts Charity Shield after defeating Colney Heath 2-0 on Tuesday.

Ashley Lewis and Nathan Pooley netted the decisive goals.
