Hull City boss Steve Bruce says the Tigers have no plans to make a bid for Troy Deeney after speculation linked the Watford captain with a move to Humberside.

The 26-year-old striker has been the subject of several offers throughout the summer.

Swansea City, Burnley, Everton, Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City have been interested while Leicester City have had two bids for the Hornets captain rejected in the past, understood to be worth £6.5m and £7.5m.

While Leicester are believed to be planning another bid for Deeney, Bruce ruled out any sort of move for the striker.

Asked about the Deeney speculation, Bruce told Radio Humberside: “It’s not true, I can say this time it’s definitely not true.

“We enquired about Troy Deeney on deadline day last year. Before we signed Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic, we had a little nibble then but that’s all it was.

“This year, no, not interested.”

Hull City were the only club to bid for Deeney last summer but the offer, believed to be around an initial £6m, was rejected by the Golden Boys.
