It’s been a disappointing Watford display at Stevenage in their Capital One Cup first round tie. The game is currently goalless and the Hornets have looked poor against their League Two opponents.

Watford head coach Beppe Sannino has made nine changes to the side which defeated Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Jonathan Bond, Lloyd Doyley, Tommie Hoban, Keith Andrews, Gianni Munari, Diego Fabbrini, Lloyd Dyer, Fernando Forestieri and Odion Ighalo have all come into the starting XI. Gabriel Tamas and Daniel Pudil are the only survivors from the weekend victory.

Boro have come closest to scoring through Charlie Lee. His fierce strike from 20-yards beat Golden Boys goalkeeper Bond but struck the post.

Dyer and Doyley have threatened for Watford. The winger flicked a shot narrowly wide after a long free kick from Tamas while Doyley’s over-hit cross required Sam Beasant to tip the ball over at his back post.

Watford will have to improve in the second period if they are to progress. If the game is goalless after 90 minutes then the match goes to extra time. If neither side can break the deadlock, the game will be settled by a penalty shoot-out.
