Crystal Palace are set to announce Malky Mackay as their new manager, it is being reported.

The Daily Mirror are reporting Palace have decided to replace Tony Pulis with the former Watford and Cardiff City manager.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood was odds-on favourite yesterday morning but the Mirror are this afternoon stating Berkhamsted-based Mackay will be appointed.

Mackay started his managerial career at Watford and performed admirably under very difficult circumstances, as the club sold most of their leading lights to balance the books.

He decided to leave the then Laurence Bassini-led Watford for Cardiff in the summer of 2011.

In his first season Cardiff reached the play-offs and in the second campaign secured the Championship title and LMA Manager of the Year award.

The 42-year-old was controversially sacked on December 27 in City's first season in the Premier League, with the club one point above the relegation zone. Cardiff, then managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, were relegated back to the Championship this summer.

Hate CP but hope he does well after the way he was treated by that mad lot over at Cardiff.

Tony Pulis is the kind of Manager that would establish us where we all want to be, but in fairness we have to give Beppe a chance to see what he can do. However, he hasn't got the kind of track record a Pulis would bring to the job. Come to think of it there has been a bit of a Watford School of management in recent years in terms of ability :Lewington, Mackay,Rodgers, Dyche, even Boothroyd. Think what any of them might have done with this squad! And who in their right mind would have stayed to work for Bassini if the opportunity came to move to securer pastures.

On the basis that he left CP allegedly because he wanted 100% control over football matters, recruitment etc, I think there is 0% of this happening. I can't think of anyone less suited to the way we currently operate as a club !!!

If Tony Pulis can't agree on transfers where he was supposedly given full say on activities, how the hell would he agree with Nani when given a new batch, like it or not, of Pozzo pool players every Summer/transfer window. Good manager agreed at bottom half of top tier level but we are not there and besides, we have a manager (or should I say Head Coach) in place that people should start backing, rather than whinging about , just two games into a long season!

People are entitled to their opinion and mine is that Sannino was not good enough to manage our team last season and certainly is not good enough to manage it this season.
Having said that I believe that even with him as Head Coach we will be good enough for a top 6 place but he is not the right man to extract the best from this team.

Have to blame the board for not putting restrictions on contact with WFC players/officials - Cowie - MM said was never going to sign for WFC anyway.

I thought he got an excremental time at the sheep worriers and scandalous treatment from his boss. OGS is not a patch on him - hence relegation.

Moving on - good luck Malky. If Rogers can get a top 6 side to manage - maybe one day you can.
