The Hornets' plans to partly open the new East Stand at Vicarage Road have been pushed back slightly after receiving a home draw in the League Cup.

The Golden Boys will play Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday in the second round of the competition and this has delayed work to the structure's turnstiles.

We understand the club are planning to partly open the stand for the match with Bournemouth on September 20 and could have the structure fully in use by the end of the month, with the Golden Boys facing Brentford on Tuesday, September 30. The next home game after that is against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, October 4.

The new stand will house around 3,400 fans and we believe it has cost the Pozzo family in excess of £3.5m.

Fair enough, we've waited this long a few more days/weeks won't matter. On a different note, just read this article on Malky, if the allegations are true it's a real bombshell. http://www.dailymail

BNack to the East (rather than Malkys last) stand. they are going to have to push on in the next month. Last time i looked while the vicarage road end looks fully completed they have not started putting up the steel work for the Rookery stand end. Then they have to fit it out with PA, fire alarms etc - so i think 25 working days seems optimistic.

Whilst I agree it's optimistic, the side that has gone up is far more than just a grandstand - whereas the Rookery End side is. Add to that the fact all of the foundations are almost complete, it won't take too long to get the rest of it up.

Laying the foundations is the longest bit and I believe they are nearly complete. The steelwork will fly up in the next few weeks :)

There is one more block of seats to add according to plans/artists impressions. Interesting that they stopped at the point where the electrical sub station sits and where the girder needed to be bent to accommodate the steel. Think this might present a bigger obstacle than they are letting on. Still if we can use the 2500 odd seats in the near future I for one can wait!

It's the three seat row at the vicarage road end that looks odd to me, maybe that allowed the maximum seats, but a block three seats deep looks odd
