Striker Mathias Ranegie has left Watford to join fellow Championship side Millwall on loan until January 1.

The Sweden international impressed during pre-season but has not made a single appearance this season, as captain Troy Deeney has played every minute in the Championship and Matej Vydra, Fernando Forestieri and Odion Ighalo all appear to be ahead of Ranegie in Beppe Sannino's pecking order.

Ranegie, 30, joined the Golden Boys in January from Udinese and signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the club.

He was injured when he first arrived but went on to make ten appearances for Watford, often starting alongside Deeney, and netted four times.

Ranegie has been capped five times by Sweden and he netted his sole goal for his country in a 1-1 draw against Syria in January 2010.

He was a latecomer to professional football and, after a largely unsuccessful spell at IFK Göteborg, made a name for himself at BK Häcken, where he scored 36 goals in 81 appearances.

Malmo signed him in 2011 and 13 goals in 26 games persuaded Udinese to buy the player in August 2012.

He made 24 Serie A appearances for the Little Zebras before joining the Hornets.

Makes sense and perhaps not a happy chappie at WFC. Did he not say he wanted out before now?

Good riddance, lets hope he goes permanently too.

Not the kind of player I wanted to see at Watford. He is lazy and clearly had no chemistry with the rest of the team. All that nonsence about him wanting to be the main man instead of Deeney **** me off, the greedy ****.

I think a fantastic signing to replace him as the backup target man would be Danny Graham.

As I said, it would be a fantastic signing...

Plus he did badly on loan to Middlesbrough last season.

That's a nice way to talk about Ranegie. He's still our player and I for one hope he does well and comes back to us firing on all cylinders. I still hope Millwall have a rubbish season though, letting loads of goals in and struggling at the wrong end of the table. Prob won't now though :-( Good luck Mathias

I echo that. Makes me laugh when people look backwards ie Danny Graham, why not Barry Endean whilst we are at it?
He scored 4 out of 10 games, that's a decent percentage IMO.

Yes. Luther. He keeps himself fit. Sure he could do a job for us...Anyway it's lazy to just write players like Ranegie off as lazy. Craig Ramage springs to mind. Worked pretty hard but people lazily called him lazy cos of the way he moved. He was a fine player. In fact I reckon we should get him back too as back up to Luther.

Can't understand the amount of people defending him. He is a lazy player. I remember at the Sheffield Wednesday game, he was through on goal, the ball was about a metre away from him, and he gave up it all together. Shortly after, Deeney scored a tap in after Ranegie was one on one and missed and instead of celebrating happily with the team, he sulked on his own. No chemistry. There's no denying that he is greedy after his ridiculous comments about wanting to leave if he's not ahead of Deeney in the pecking order. Maybe my comments will help him buck up his ideas instead of you lot backing him up when he does not deserve it one bit.

This is good news all round:-

Mr West Country Gollum will give him lots of game time.

If Ranegie was a negative influence (just rumours?) then he is out of harms way.

He sharpens up and helps Millwall defeat our promotion rivals.

He cannot play against us.

He helps keep Millwall in the championship for local derby games should we not reach promised land.

He returns in Jan a fitter, better hungrier player challenging for first team.

It's a win-win and if he can help Renegie become a better player I'm sure we are all mature enough not to have negative feelings towards that nice Mr Holloway, even if he is a @&*# ...
