If Watford do decide they want to hire Oscar Garcia as Beppe Sannino's replacement, we have been told they will face competition from two other clubs for the Spaniard's services.

Sannino resigned from his position as the Hornets' head coach yesterday but his future had been in serious doubt for several weeks.

The Golden Boys have held talks with a number of candidates in recent weeks and we understand there are currently three men in the frame.

One of those is ex-Brighton & Hove Albion boss Garcia but we understand the 41-year-old is also in talks with another Championship team, believed to be Leeds United, and a Spanish side.

Former Newcastle United and Norwich City boss Chris Hughton was close to landing the job a couple of weeks ago but we were told he is no longer in the running.

Likewise, we believe ex-Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo was considered but is not in the frame.

Watford have almost two weeks until their next match due to the international break but ideally the club want to make an appointment before the end of this week.
