Beppe Sannino has posted a message of thanks to Hornets' fans through his official Facebook page, promising to carry Watford supporters "forever" in his heart after being made to feel like "one of the family".

The 57-year-old resigned on Sunday evening, 24 hours after the Hornets beat Huddersfield Town 4-2 at Vicarage Road in his final match in charge.

Sannino left his post after eight-and-a-half months in charge at Vicarage Road, sharing a message with Watford supporters on his Facebook page.

"I would like to say thanks to the amazing supporters that have helped me to live a beautiful and incredible experience.

"Every single time I have been inside the Vicarage Road, it has been like living a dream, you have always made me feel one of you, inside but also outside of the stadium, in the streets of the city, I have never felt as a guest, but contrarily, one of the family.

"I will carry you forever in my heart and I will never forget you. I wish you the best. A greeting.

"Coach Beppe Sannino."
