Premier Division

Bovingdon's good start to the new campaign continued after a 5-0 victory over last season’s Division One champions Hertfordshire Lions yesterday.

Mark McNicholas gave Bovingdon the lead early in the first half but the star of the show for the home side was Tommy Gray, who scored four times.

He doubled his team’s lead before the break and netted a second-half hat-trick, becoming the beneficiary of some excellent link-up play with Bradley Davies and veteran midfielder Martin Tebbs who has signed from now the now defunct Evergreen Olympians.

Bushey Grove scored four goals for the second week running after a bad-tempered 4-2 victory over Prince George.

Sean Shinkwin struck a hat-trick for the second successive week, with Harrison Jones getting the other goal for Grove. Luke Everitt struck a brace for George in the second half.

The other two games in the division ended in draws.

Cassiobury Revolution shared the points after a 2-2 draw with Meriden Ballers, who could only the start game with ten players.

Revolution looked to have taken full advantage of the extra man by taking a two-goal lead in the first half half thanks to new signing Vincenzo Cerulio and Rob Dilkes. But Meriden got back into the game just before the interval with an effort from Ryan Hall.

Playing with their full compliment after the break, Meriden secured a point through Russell North.

Joel Foskett put Old Danes Athletic ahead in the first half against Inter but Rob Cunningham equalised in the second period with a well-taken goal from the edge of the area.

Division One

Watford Labour, who struggled last season and finished second bottom of the table, had a fine start to the new league season with a 9-2 win over Woodlands Laurels.

Labour opened the scoring when Peter Hurwood knocked in a Mark Bedford cross; Bedford himself then made it 2-0 before Paul Collett netted a third before half-time.

Early in the second half John Barker fired in two quick goals then Mark Hofman made it 6-0. Hurwood scored direct from corner before Bedford added his second and Labour's eighth.

Woodlands, who have now conceded 20 goals in just two games, scored two consolations through Tim Goldsmith and Daryl Lee and then saw a penalty saved, before Collett headed in to complete the scoring.

Goals from Matt Bryne, Will Keddy and Andrew Owusu saw United win 3-1 against Bedmond, whose sole reply came from Owen Scully.

A goal in each half from Alex Gilmaney was enough for WD Athletic to beat Roundbush 2-0.

Herts Sunday Junior Cup Preliminary Round

It was not a good morning for Carpenders Park Rangers Reserves, who suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Riverside Corinthians.

Harley Mead scored the Rangers goal when his team already trailed 3-0.
