WSFL Challenge Cup Round One

Oxhey Rangers had a decisive away win in the first match of the league's premier cup competition as thay defeated Garston United 5-2.

Premier Division

The top-flight may be only two matches old but just three clubs still have a 100 per cent record - Oakview, St Josephs and Rifle Volunteer.

Oakview were in top form as they thumped Hammer 11-0, with two hat-tricks by Lewis Putnam and Tom Kennedy, while Adam Lowton scored a brace. Ben Alexander, Owen Deamer and Jake Grace completed the mauling.

St Josephs have started better than last season and they won 4-1 at AFC Spartians.

Jack Garrett, Sean Sonner, Harry Brock and Sam Clarke were their scorers, with Tom Horton replying.

Goals from Harry Lock and Adam Hills fired Gadeside Rangers to a 2-1 victory at Oxhey Estates, for whom Luke Lloyd netted.

West Herts put in a fine performance and ran out deserved 3-2 winners against Mill End.

Two goals from Lawrence Olorunfemi and one from Vlad Dragomir gave the Stags a comfortable 3-0 lead midway through the second half.

However, the home team gave away a sloppy goal and found themselves under pressure when the visitors pulled another back with ten minutes left as Callum Lee and Glen O'Malley both scored.

Mill End pushed forward for the equaliser but to no avail and with better finishing West Herts could have added several more to their total.

After a fine opening-day win the previous week, Rifle Volunteer played their first home game of the campaign against Evergreen, aiming to continue their good start to the season.

Manager Mark Pow decided to shuffle his pack and brought back Hugh Trayte and gave a debut to Dale Sears. It was Trayte who won the free-kick that enabled the hosts to take the lead as Wayne Jackson curled a fine effort into the top corner.

Just like seven days earlier though, Rifle were soon pegged back when a long ball found Jamie Harper in the channel and he finished with a well-struck half-volley from the edge of the penalty area.

But it didn't take long for the hosts to regain the upper hand as a long throw from Adam Doe was flicked on at the near post by Myles Hall and Jackson added his second with a looping header from the middle of the 18-yard box.

Two became three shortly after when Doe got off the mark for the season with another impressive free-kick from the edge of the penalty area.

Evergreen were rattled and, against the run of play, the home side added a fourth when Sears found skipper Mark Lomas in space on the right and his inch-perfect cross picked out Trayte, who made no mistake with the header.

Not even the introduction of former Tottenham Hotspur starlet Phil Ifil for the visitors could halt the Rifle rampage. Midway through the second half, another Lomas foray down the right led to a whipped cross which the goalkeeper could only palm weakly onto Trayte’s head, and he duly accepted the gift to make it 5-1.

A fine strike from Ifil with ten minutes to go did reduce the deficit but their opponents never looked overly troubled in completing back-to-back wins.

Division One

Reed Rangers are one of only two teams left with a 100 per cent record in Division One and they saw off fellow league newcomers Tudor Arms 2-0 thanks to goals from Karl Penney and George Robson.

Chorleywood Club are the other side with the perfect record after beating Nascot Arms 2-1.

The visitors took an early lead after a long-range effort from Michael East was helped on its way by the Nascot keeper.

The game was settled in the second half with a thumping strike from Dan Barnard, before Jamie Beaumont netted for Nascot.

Rickmansworth Rovers had a 4-0 win over Cassiobury Rangers thanks mainly to a hat-trick from James Budden and a G.Cook goal.

Matt Stevens, Sam Margerison and Matt Hudson were on target as Hammer Reserves beat the only side in the division without a point, Green Dragon, 3-0.

Old Fullerians defeated Croxley by the odd goal in five, with Charlie Hailey scoring twice and Craig Totten also netting for the Old Boys, while Aaron Farrell and Ben Harwood were on target for their opponents.

Division Two

Amici are top of the table after a Chris Coleman goal proved the difference against Croxley Reserves.

Having been in cup action the previous week, Oxhey Lions opened up their league campaign with a 4-1 victory against West Herts Reserves.

Ryan King, Liam Hanley, Danny Alleyne and Ben Woodman were on target for the victors, with Chris Blunden replying.

A Jack Beard brace and a goal from Joe Morey enabled Rickmansworth Rovers to beat Colne Valley 3-0, while Daniel Howell's double for Rifle Volunteer Reserves was not enough to defeat Langleybury Cricket Club, who earned a 2-2 draw through Matt Whittington and Josh Costello.

Division Three

AFC Oddfellows maintained their perfect start to the season, winning 3-1 at Sun Postal United thanks to two goals from Connor Flanagan and one from Joe Fox. Bradley Carter scored for Sun.

There was an exciting 2-2 draw as second played third, with Shoaib Ali's double for North Watford cancelled out by goals from Aamer Khan and Hameed Khan for visitors West Watford.

Carpenders Park Rangers got their first points of the season, beating Woodlands United 2-0 through Adrian Cofei and Abbas Khan.

A Paul Page double was not enough to earn Railway Arms a point as they were edged out 3-2 at Racing Santandome, who scored through Chris Panyai, Dan Hartland and Ben Kelly.

Division Four

Evergreen Reserves are on the summit on goal difference after goals from Alex Joffiel and Connor Herbert saw off The Swan 2-0.

Sun Postal Sports are unbeaten without conceding following their 2-0 victory at Green Dragon Reserves. Oliver Gould and Luke Peerless netted the goals.

A Jack Holcomb brace and Mark Bonito's single fired Bell Rangers to a 3-1 win at Hertsmere (Sunday), for whom Ryan Walsh netted.
