Sun Sports crashed out of the Challenge Trophy after they were beaten 4-1 by Berkhamsted on Tuesday.

It took Berko just 12 minutes to break the deadlock. Frankie Jowle’s corner was met by Ed Canham and he steered his header home.

The visitors doubled their advantage soon after as Adiel Mannion’s deflected effort found the back of the net.

James Armstrong came close for Sun but Ben Barnes, who was making his debut in the Berko goal, saved well.

Jowle clipped the top of the crossbar early in the second half before Simeon Fearon pulled a goal back for Sun. He reacted quickly to run on to a pass and lash his effort past Barnes.

However, Berko soon restored their advantage with the goal of the game. A great cross-field pass released Jowle on the right wing and his cross was swept home by BJ Christie.

A Mannion lob made it 4-1 and there could have been more goals, with James Towell hitting the post as Berko pressed home their advantage.

Both sides were in Premier Division action on Saturday and Berko remain top after thrashing Stotfold 6-1.

Josh Chamberlain netted twice while Mannion, Christie, Jamie Gavin, James Baldry were also on target.

Sun were beaten 2-1 by Hoddesdon, with Nathan Pooley’s goal not enough for the visitors.
