New Watford head coach Billy McKinlay has Almen Abdi available for selection for tonight’s Championship match against Brentford but Gabriele Angella will miss the game due to injury.

The Swiss midfielder missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers with a thigh problem but took part in yesterday’s training session at Vicarage Road and could return to the squad and starting XI if selected.

Angella picked up what is believed to be a knee injury in the closing stages of the weekend game and McKinlay said the Italian defender is ruled out.

Hornets captain Troy Deeney remains out with a hamstring problem and Gabriel Tamas will be a long-term absentee following the knee ligament injury he suffered against Bournemouth ten days ago.

Midfielder Keith Andrews will also miss the game as he continues to recover from a thigh problem.
