The game between Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion remains goalless at half-time as neither side have been able to make the most of their possession.

The Seagulls started the stronger and striker Chris O’Grady has had his team’s two best chances, as he had an early shot comfortably saved and then hit the side-netting later in the half.

Both teams have looked to play the ball on the floor and enjoyed periods of sustained possession.

The Hornets had several ‘nearly moments’ but only forced David Stockdale into one routine stop from Gianni Munari’s header going into the final five minutes of the opening period.

But the Golden Boys finished the half very strongly and Matej Vydra should have tested the Albion stopper when he fired over from close range when off balance.

Watford Observer:

And Almen Abdi and Munari both had efforts blocked late on during a goal-mouth scramble.

The Hornets made four changes to their starting XI, with two of them forced. Daniel Pudil’s suspension and Craig Cathcart’s injury resulted in Lloyd Doyley starting at right-sided centre half and Tommie Hoban at left back.

Almen Abdi came in for Odion Igalho, with the Swiss midfielder playing behind Vydra in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and Ikechi Anya started on the right flank instead of Diego Fabbrini.

The inclusion of youngsters Bernard Mensah and Josh Dohertyn on the bench meant there were six academy graduates in the 18-man squad, with seven first-team players out injured.

Watford: Gomes; Paredes, Ekstrand, Doyley, Hoban; Tozser, Munari; Anya, Abdi, Dyer; Vydra.

Subs: Bond, McGugan, Murray, Fabbrini, Ighalo, Mensah, Doherty.

Brighton: Stockdale; Bruno, Greer, Dunk, Bennett; Ince, Crofts, Gardner; Teixeira, O'Grady, Colunga.

Subs: Walton, Chicksen, Hughes, Toko, Holla, McCourt, LuaLua.
