Former Watford boss Gianfranco Zola, who led the Hornets to the Championship Play-Off final in 2013, says the club need a period of stability after their succession of managerial changes.

Since Zola’s departure in December last year, the Golden Boys have appointed four head coaches.

Beppe Sannino lasted nine months but left in August, Oscar Garcia departed a little over a week ago due to health concerns and Billy McKinlay was replaced this morning by Slavisa Jokanovic after only eight days in charge.

Zola, a former teammate of Jokanovic at Chelsea, says Watford - who are third in the Championship table - have very good players but admits they can be affected by the constant changes of head coach.

“Obviously in the last few months there have been a lot of things going on and that doesn’t help even if you have a good team, you need to have things settled,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“It is a good team certainly. They have very good players. A few people have asked me about it (Watford) but I can only speak well of it. I had a very good opportunity and good time there.

“I hope it will happen for them because it is a good club.”
