The manager of Watford Ladies Under-15 Harts has defended making a sporting decision, even though it resulted in her side being beaten.

Harts lost 1-0 to a Harpenden Colts side that were only able to field nine players. As a result, their opponents agreed to drop two players as well.

Zoe Bird, Louise Chick and Emily Humphrey were all denied by the Colts keeper, before her opposite number, Emma Kerber, went off injured in the second half.

Captain Roxanna Buckley took her place between the posts and saved a penalty just before full-time, only for the rebound to be converted.

While the result would probably have been different had Harts played with their full compliment, manager Debbie Pearce said: “That’s not how we do things; we’d rather win fair and square or not at all.”

Table-topping Under-15 Wasps netted their 60th goal in just five matches following a resounding 9-3 victory over Hormead Hares.

Samantha Cottam opened the scoring in the first half and this was followed up by a quick-fire hat-trick for Becky Holmes.

The Hares came out fighting in the second half but their defence could not contain their opponents, who added further goals through Georgina Lee (2), Angel Frost and Mikhela Treon.

Goalkeeper Courtney Brunette then finished the Wasps scoring with a penalty, meaning that every player in the squad has now scored this season.

The Under-15 Hornets maintained their 100 per cent record after a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Ladies.

Olivia Syson opened the scoring for the Golden Girls and Holly Holt doubled the lead ten minutes later.

Syson added her second after 60 minutes, before complacency crept in, allowing Tottenham to pull two back late on.

The Under-13 Hornets were also in action against Tottenham and they came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw through a Josie Layton goal.

The Under-11 Harts had yet another high-scoring game in their contest against St Margaretsbury.

Millie Tugby netted four times and there were singles for Emelia Barton and Emily Rollinger, as the Hornets also benefited from two own goals.
