Twins Ralph and Haydn Williams continued their preparations for the Ippon Trophy in Antwerp with medal success at the British International tournament.

The 12-year-olds from Hemel Hempstead, who are pupils at Parmiter’s School, have both been invited to train with Team BJC (British Judo Council) with a view to selection for the British squad, and will also compete for Team GB at the Ippon Trophy in Antwerp, Belgium, next month.

In order to prepare for Antwerp, the pair both took part in the British International in Southend, with Haydn winning bronze at the tournament. The championship is seen as an important development step for juniors and is attended by competitors from all over Europe.

Despite being smaller than those he was competing against, Hayden came away with bronze, whilst Ralph just missed out on the medals after making the step up in categories for weight, grade and age.

Keen sportsmen who have also represented Parmiters at football, rugby, basketball, cross country, handball and athletics, the Williams twins are part of a 15-strong team which will compete in Antwerp from December 7.
