FA Sunday Cup Round Two

With the weather wiping out nearly half of the league’s planned fixtures, Hammer were fortunate in choosing to play their second round tie of the FA Sunday Cup at Kings Langley’s ground as they entertained Northern Home Counties side, Brache Nation.

Two goals from Joe McCarthy and one each from Daniel Burke and Harry Healey saw them progress to the next round with a 4-1 win and send disappointed Brache back up the M1 to Luton.

Herts Senior Sunday Cup Round Three

St Josephs also enjoyed cup progress as they beat Berkhamsted side Gossoms End 3-1 away.

Goals from Charlie Benning, Paul Stuart and Bradley Watkins put Joes into the hat for the fourth round.

Herts Intermediate Sunday Cup Round Three

With three matches involving league clubs postponed, only five ties were completed, although both RD FC and Chorleywood Club may have wished that the weather had affected theirs.

RD lost 4-3 after extra-time away to Leisure League Herts despite two goals from Elliot Myrants-Wilson and one from Chris Fisher Raynor.

Chorleywood also went down on their travels, 4-2 at London Road after Owen Wartneby and Aaron Whittingham had scored.

More successful after playing extra-time were Rickmansworth Rovers, winning 3-2 at home to AC Finchley thanks to a goal from James Budden and a brace from Bert Adams.

Tudor Arms entertained Hexton and ran out 4-3 victors thanks to a hat-trick from Spencer Bellotti and one from Jack Robertson.

But the most impressive result went to Reed Rangers as they empahtically progressed after an 11-1 victory at Westbury Boca Juniors.

George Hobson led the way with a hat-trick, followed closely by braces from Karl Penny, Lucas Gibbons and Dom David, with Ashley Lewis and Jamie Seabrook each adding one more.

WSFL Junior Cup Round Two

A close-fought game between two Division Three sides saw Oxhey Rangers outscore Woodlands United 6-5.

Connor Murphy doubled his tally for the season with four goals and Jamie Phillips added two more for Oxhey. Micky Hooker and Gary Marshall replied for the home side.

Division Two

With all games in the Premier Division postponed and none scheduled for the second tier, Division Two came to the fore with away wins for Amici FC, Oxhey Lions and Met Police (Bushey).

Amici easily overcame Colne Valley with a fine 6-1 win thanks to four goals from Chris Coleman and one each for Craig Gorrie and Michael McRoberts. Dave Rooney netted for the home side.

Rickmansworth Athletic had Jordan Allen to thank for their single strike as Joe Murphy and two-goal Ryan King gave Oxhey Lions all the points in their 3-1 victory.

Robert Taylor was one of two players to score a hat-trick in the game as his Met Police side won 5-3 at West Herts Reserves.

Robert Gradwell and Ashley Shanahan were also on target for the visitors, as Chris Blunden’s treble for the hosts proved to be insufficient.

Division Three

This division saw two high-scoring contests, with AFC Oddfellows troubling Railway Arms’ goalkeeper ten times when defeating them 10-1 at home.

Connor Flanagan led the onslaught with four goals to maintain his prominent position in the division’s leading scorer stakes. Gary Hennicke, Jake Smith, Geoff Jones and Calvin Brandy also registered, with Jerome Driscoll finding the net for the Arms.

Oddfellows’ victory took them to the top of the table as they leapfrogged West Watford.

In a mid-table clash, Carpenders Park Rangers were involved in a close encounter at home to Dome Bar Area, with Paul Della Savina’s strike proving decisive for the visitors.

North Watford’s home match with Sun Postal United proved to be another rout, with the home side going one better than Oddfellows by winning 11-1.

Top goal getter Shoaib Ali stayed above Flanagan in the division’s leading marksman stakes by netting four times, Mansoor Ali and Usman Ali weighed in with a brace apiece and there were singles for Saqib Ahmed, Shakeb Ali and Ryan Fisken. Dan Parkes tried to spare Sun’s blushes with a solitary goal.

Division Four

Sun Postal Sports maintained the morning’s free-scoring theme in the lower leagues and kept up the pressure on the top half of the table by winning 9-1 at home to Central Watford thanks to a fine team performance.

Sam Hakner led the rout with four goals, ably supported by three-goal Luke Frey and single strikes from Karim El-Janfali and Louis Hakner.

The remaining game in the lower divisions was more closely contested as Wellington Arms maintained their winning ways by edging out Hertsmere (Sunday) 2-1 through goals from Mark Coffey and Simon Armstrong. Charlie Watts replied for the visitors.
