Watford have conceded another goal from a cross into their penalty area and that is why the Hornets are drawing 1-1 with Wigan Athletic at half time.
After an even opening 20 minutes, in which both sides had half chances, the Golden Boys broke the deadlock.
Deeney exchanged passes with Ikechi Anya on the edge of the Wigan penalty area. The Scot’s header put the Watford captain one-on-one with Scott Carson and Deeney calmly finished.
The Golden Boys took control after going ahead but failed to create a clear opportunity to add to their lead.
Wigan had a spell of pressure late in the half. Emerson Boyce headed easily into the arms of Heurelho Gomes whilst the Hornets goalkeeper had to save at his near post from James McLean.
It seemed as if the Hornets had held off the visitors' attacks but a 45th minute corner led to an equaliser.
McLean whipped a corner towards the back post and Chris McCann was barely marked and powered a header past Gomes to level the contest.
