Watford could welcome back Heurelho Gomes and Ikechi Anya for Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Town but Fernando Forestieri is a doubt.

Gomes and Anya both missed the Hornets' 3-0 FA Cup third round defeat at Chelsea on Sunday. The Brazilian goalkeeper missed out with a groin problem but returned to training on Wednesday. Anya, who has been sidelined with a knee injury, is expected to return to first-team training today (Friday).

The Hornets' medical staff will continue to assess both players ahead of Saturday's visit to the John Smith's Stadium.

Forestieri is a doubt with a minor hamstring complaint whilst Joel Ekstrand (back) and Gabriel Tamas (knee) are sidelined.

Watford have won their last three away fixtures but have not been able to replicate those impressive performances at Vicarage Road.

Asked yesterday (Thursday) why the Hornets had struggled in front of their own supporters, head coach Slavisa Jokanovic was unsure.

He said: "I do not know really. We find that we have played better in the last three away games. We are able to solve our problems more easily in away games but they resume in home games. However, I do not expect anything will be easy for us.

"Huddersfield are a team who work hard, they chase down the ball very well and are a solid team. They have a similar style to Wolves, they won’t give us much space to do we want. And if we start doing what they want us to do, we are going to be in trouble.

"We were asleep in the last home game (against Wolves). It shows it is very important for us to arrive 100 per cent prepared, ready to work hard and suffer altogether as a team. If we are not ready we could have a big problem on Saturday."

Huddersfield, who are managed by former Hornets defender Chris Powell, will be without another ex-Golden Boy in Jonathan Hogg. The midfielder is suspended following his sending off against Reading the FA Cup.

The Terriers will also be without Murray Wallace, but there is better news regarding centre-back Joel Lynch who has returned to training following a groin issue.

Watford have won on each of their last three trips to Huddersfield and have only been beaten by the Terriers once since their return to the second tier – a 4-1 loss at Vicarage Road in May.
