Watford winger Lloyd Dyer has joined Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.

Dyer turned down several clubs, including Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers, in favour of a switch to a team near his Midlands home.

The 32-year-old has been a victim of the Golden Boys' switch to 3-5-2 and has only started four league games, making 16 appearances in all competitions and scoring three times.

Dyer turned down Premier League football at Leicester City in the summer in favour of a longer, three-year contract at Watford.

He impressed early into this season but often found himself on the bench and showed his frustration with former head coach Beppe Sannino following his goal at Rotherham United.

The ex-MK Dons and West Bromwich Albion wide-man was told he could leave Vicarage Road either permanently or on loan before the start of the January transfer window.
