Watford heavyweight ‘Big’ Dave Abraham says he is aiming to fight in Las Vegas rather than just watching after signing a three-year deal with promoter Steve Goodwin.

The 28-year-old spent part of 2014 working as a sparring partner with former WBC world heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne and last week jetted out to ‘Sin City’ as a guest of the fighter for his world title fight against Deontay Wilder, which he lost in an undisputed points decision, 108-118, 108-119, 107-120.

Speaking prior to his departure, Abraham said: “It is a dream for me one day to fight in Vegas rather than just watching.

“I met Steve (Goodwin) in the latter part of 2014 and then met several other interested parties. However it was an easy decision to make once I had met everyone and I am confident Steve is the best man to guide my career.”

Abraham will make his debut against Moses Matovu (5-50-4) on the Olivia Goodwin-promoted ‘Best of Enemies’ card at York Hall on Saturday, March 21. And Abraham wants to remain as active as possible in 2015.

He explained: “I am still young for a heavyweight and have plenty to learn but ring experience is crucial and Steve will provide plenty of that for me.”

Goodwin added: “We are delighted to have signed Dave.

“Heavyweight boxing is a very exciting division and we are looking forward to navigating Dave through to hopefully some major titles.”
