Lee Clark says Blackpool were “deeply embarrassed” by their second-half capitulation at Watford this afternoon.

The Tangerines were on course for their first away win of the season at the interval after goals from Andrea Orlandi and Steve Davies put them 2-0 up at the break. But once Odion Ighalo had halved the deficit within two minutes of the restart, the visitors fell apart as the rampant Hornets put them to the sword, scoring six more times.

Clark chose not to attend the press conference with the written media after the game but he told the club’s website: "At ten to four it was looking fantastic. At ten to five it was embarrassing. We’re deeply embarrassed by that second half. To concede seven goals in any game, never mind a half, is very disappointing and frustrating."

The Blackpool boss continued: "We talked about the first 15 minutes being crucial and certainly not conceding, never mind conceding three in the first seven or eight. That put us on the back foot and we never recovered. In all honesty, the goals for them have come within the width of the penalty area, two from a set play and one where we didn’t defend particularly well in the wide area.

"You just can’t play like we did in the second half, at any level. We’ll take all the flack that is going to come our way in the next few days, and rightly so."
