Tabard eased to their eighth successive win after thrashing Hampstead 42-12 in London Two North West on Saturday.

The visitors made a bright start and were rewarded with the opening try of the game. The conversion was added which left the hosts seven points down midway through the half.

The gap should have been wider but Hampstead sent a penalty attempt wide of the posts.

This sparked the home side into action and they scored their first try of the game after 32 minutes. From a lineout, Jack Reilly sent a pass out to hooker Jack Girdlestone and he crossed the line.

Tabard came close to adding to this before the break but Joe Calnan was tackled just short of the tryline. It meant the home side went into the second half still trailing 7-5.

It was a totally different story after the break as Tabard ripped apart their opponents in a ruthless display.

Second row Jo Jacobs crossed the line after good work from flanked Liam Kenny.

Two minutes later full-back Tom King produced one of the best pieces of individual skill seen at Cobden Hill for many a year.

King took a Hampstead clearance on the full and, without breaking stride, ripped through the Hampstead defence for his side’s third try. But the scorer was injured during the move and his game was brought to a premature end.

The lively Calnan was not to be denied and he crossed the line for the hosts’ fourth try of the game to clinch the bonus point just 11 minutes into the second half.

More pressure from the home side resulted in Wilf Lake forcing his way over for another try and it wasn’t long before number eight Aaron Priscott touched down to make it 32-7.

Calnan added his second try of the game before Hampstead replied with a consolation effort.

But Tabard sealed a comprehensive win with replacement hooker Will Hirst crossing to round off an impressive second-half display as Tabard ran out winners by a 30-point margin.
