Matthew Hall smashed a seven-year County indoor hurdles record as he romped to victory at the Hertfordshire Indoor Championships.
The Parmiter’s School pupil, who represents Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, ran a time of 8.37 to win the title and set the new County record in the process.
He led from gun to tape in a near faultless run which saw the 2008 time of 8.40 wiped from the record books.
The new record of 8.37 puts Hall firmly in the top ranks of the UK’s sprint hurdlers, moving him up to 11th place.
Victory also continued Hall’s domination of the Hertfordshire Indoor title, which he has won every year since 2011.
