Watford striker Odion Ighalo made his debut for Nigeria last night but he wasn’t able to help the Super Eagles avoid a 1-0 friendly defeat to Uganda.

The 25-year-old was named in the starting XI and played 85 minutes before being replaced by Aaron Olanare.

Uganda clinched victory with just under ten minutes when Miya Faruku guided a shot past Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who earned his 100th cap for the Super Eagles.

Elsewhere, Ikechi Anya started and completed Scotland’s 1-0 friendly win against Northern Ireland last night.

The Tartan Army sealed their narrow victory thanks to an 85th minute Christophe Berra header. Hornets defender Craig Cathcart was an unused substitute for Northern Ireland.

Former Watford full-back's Lee Hodson and Craig Forsyth also appeared for Northern Ireland and Scotland respectively.
