Hertsavers Senior County League Round-up

Belstone were denied their chance to win the treble on Tuesday evening as they lost 3-2 to Letchworth Garden City Eagles in the Senior Centenary Trophy.

The Eagles came back from 2-0 down to win, denying Belstone the first leg of a potential treble.

Danny Tilbury opened the scoring for Belstone after 52 minutes, scrambling home after Jason Puzey's inswinging cross found him in space between the Letchworth defence and goalkeeper.

Six minutes later the 2014 winners doubled their advantage; skipper Darren Butler latching onto a half clearance from outside the penalty area and crashing home on the volley.

However, the Eagles pulled one back before Tighe Hyde was dismissed for handling on the line, allowing Letchworth to draw level from the penalty spot.

And the Eagles soon completed the turnaround with the winning arriving three minutes from time.

Belstone boss Joe Sheridan said: "We’re obviously disappointed to lose after being 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go, but on the balance of 90 minutes I know we haven’t performed to our potential, and full credit to Letchworth for the way they finished."

"I’m immensely proud of the players and the club for reaching this final for the second year in a row, and I thought our keeper Joel Thomas was outstanding today."

In the Premier Division, Belstone have temporarily been overhauled by Bovingdon, who were 3-1 winners over Chipperfield Corinthinans.

Bovingdon's position is somewhat false as they have played five games more than Belstone.

Ben Davis, Joseph and Harry Slade got the goals, with Adrian Abramian replying for Chipperfield.

Sarratt beat Belstone 1-0 courtesy of an Ian McIntosh goal.

Mill End Sports were beaten 1-0 by Letchworth Garden City Eagles.

Bushey Sports Club edged out Wormley Rovers 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.

Jack Brown, Gary Burrell and Terryl Harding-Nathan were all on target for Bushey.

In Division One, Old Parmiterians squeezed past Hampstead Heath 3-1, with strikes from Martin Skinner, Josh Towle and an own goal.

Evergreen were held to a stalemate at Knebworth.
