BEN FOSTER will undergo a fitness test today (Friday) on the dead leg that kept him out of the Everton game last week.

The England keeper sustained the injury in the 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic but manager Aidy Boothroyd remained hopeful he would be fit to face Charlton this weekend. Richard Lee is on stand by to deputise for Foster should he not be given all the all clear by the medical team "Ben is making great progress and we are hopeful he is going to be fit for Saturday," said Boothroyd. "Richard didn't perform at his best against Everton but he has been terrific for us all season. Ben is going to be the best goalkeeper in the world and when you've got a player of that stature you are going to miss him.

"He has such a presence and he has the ability off either foot to start attacks for us. He's got a great humility about him, he realises he's just another cog in the wheel and he works hard at his game."

Boothroyd has been working hard on the training ground this week to put right the wrong of the last three games and he will be looking for a response from his side against Alan Pardew's Charlton.

"We know it's a game we have got to win and it's a game we are going to go out to win," said the manager. "We want to get something from this game and take it into the cup and the remaining nine games.

"I know I keep saying it but time is running out and it's not over until it's over. But you can only say that for so long and we've got to start winning matches. This is one we have got to win.

"Wigan's win over Newcastle didn't do us any favours but we have to keep going and we will keep going."
