A FLEET of buses will be offering a shuttle service for Glasgow's River Festival fans this weekend.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport will be ferrying partygoers from George Square and other locations to the SECC.

Between 10am and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday a fleet of buses will operate a half-hourly service from Buchanan Bus Station via George Square and Central Station to the SECC and Science Centre.

Free buses will also run from Easterhouse, Springburn, Drumchapel and Pollok Shopping Centres and Castlemilk Pool.

Outside the city, free buses will run from the arches on East George Street, near Kilmarnock Bus Station and from Hamilton and Greenock Bus Stations.

Buses will be marked with signs reading: "SPT joining up journeys to the River Festival".

Gordon Maclennan, assistant chief executive of SPT, said: "When the city is hosting events like the River Festival, it's vital that our transport system is as efficient as possible.

"One of SPT's core objectives is to get people out of cars and on to public transport.

"The River Festival provides a great opportunity to do that, so we're running buses to make it easy for people to get to this exciting family day out."
