DRIVERS will breathe a sigh of relief at the completion of the new road system at Glasgow Harbour.

Two years is a frustratingly long time to put up with cones linking the Clydeside Expressway with the new development.

But when they're lifted in a few days, road users and pedestrians will see the benefits.

The re-construction of the road network is an essential part of the multi-million pound regeneration of the area.

It will help traffic flow, ease congestion and, eventually, keep communities connected by making journeys simpler between the waterfront and the West End.

Now the focus must shift to providing good public transport. Target Glasgow's kerb-crawlers

THE number of men arrested for kerb crawling since new laws were introduced shows they're having some effect.

But since there has been almost twice the number of prostitutes arrested as men, there's a question of whether the law is being evenly applied.

Its aim was to prosecute the men who picked up prostitutes but these figures suggest it's the women who are being targeted.

Prosecuting them may help reduce the number working Glasgow's streets.

But embarrassing their clients in court will be even more effective in cleaning up the city.
