QUEEN'S PARK boss Gardner Speirs today called on his players to make it count when they are on top.

The new Spiders manager hasn't had a great deal to complain about with his side's performances during his four-match reign, but he would like to see them take advantage when enjoying good spells.

And he would love that to be the case tomorrow afternoon when they take on an Airdrie United side still hoping to win the Irn-Bru Second Division.

He said: "Some of our performances have been good and there were a lot of positives to take from our 3-2 defeat at Ross County.

"We showed a lot of character to come back and level the scoreline after being a couple of goals behind and, despite losing a late goal, we played well at times.

"But what I'd like to see us try and do is score goals when we are on top during games. When you have spells when you are creating chances then you have to try and make them count.

"We've got another tough one tomorrow against Airdrie. They are at the top end of the division and have a lot of good players. But the previous matches between the two clubs have been close this season so we're looking forward to the game."

In the Third Division, Albion Rovers manager John McCormack is hoping his players can put together a winning run that will push them into contention for a play-off place.

They face Dumbarton at home tomorrow and McCormack said: "We'll be hoping to try and win the game and string a few results together. When you do that it could take you up into the play-off positions.

"But you don't set targets, you just take each game as it comes and it will be a tough test against Dumbarton as Jim Chapman has made a few signings."
