FOOTBALL bosses today launched an appeal for young players to join Partick Thistle's youth development squad.

The Maryhill club's Youth Initiative is keen to hear from children born between 1993 and 1998 who could get the chance to live their dream and become professionals.

The Firhill side plan to create three teams of elite quality players at under-12, under-14 and under- 16. Eventually the youth development scheme is expected to tap directly into the Jags' senior youth set-up.

Partick Thistle have already teamed up with Broomhill Sports Club, which has around 600 youngsters.

Steve Prince, who is co-ordinating Partick's youth programme, said: "We want to hear from talented players and invite them to take part in training games in the West End of Glasgow over the next few weeks.

"After that our coaching team will be looking to invite players to participate in our development squads."

Kenny Moyes, head coach of Broomhill Sports Club said: "The idea of clubs working with youth teams to develop better footballers is not a new one. In fact there was a time when this was how talent was developed and nurtured."

Players interested should contact Steve Prince on 07980 818 626.
