IAN DURRANT and Ally McCoist watched Zenit St Petersburg's warm-up match against AZ ALkmaar in Holland.

Both had taken part in the lap of honour at Ibrox on Saturday and then flown to Amsterdam to see Dick Advocaat's side draw 2-2 with Louis van Gaal's side.

And Durrant came away optimistic about Rangers' chances against the Russians.

"Every team is beatable and, if you get to a final, then all bets are off," he said. Zenit dangerman Andrei Arshavin strolled through the Alkmaar game, but doubts remain over a knee injury that has kept him out for two weeks.

Durrant said: "You could see a heavy strapping on his knee that shows he is carrying a knock. He has not played the last few games, but he has ability."

Arshavin's return offsets a ban for Uefa top scorer Pavel Pogrebnyak, who will be replaced by Turk Fatih Tekke.

"It is good Arshavin is suspended, because he came on as a sub and you could see what he is capable of," said Durrant.

"He won his team a soft penalty, but was willing to drive into the box and take a chance.

"He is a class apart but even though he is missing, Tekke came in and linked up really well with Alejandro Dominguez."

Durrant expects Rangers to have more possession than the backs-to-the-wall performances against Werder Bremen and Fiorentina by Zenit, who also favour a counterattacking style.

He added: "They play one up front and funnel back like us, so we have to be on our guard when they break fast, but we have spotted a few deficiencies we can maybe exploit."
