CRAIG CONWAY hopes hopes his penalty winner at Falkirk can help himself and Dundee United turn the corner.

United secured only their second Clydesdale Bank Premier League victory of 2009 when Conway's 27th-minute goal gave them a 1-0 win. Conway believes United can now prove they will not miss Willo Flood too much.

"Hopefully, we have had our wee dip in form now and we can go on another run," said the player. Conway now eager to make sure he remains on top of his game.

The 23-year-old said: "I did have a wee dip in form but hopefully that's me past it.

"But that's something I need to work on, you can't go through every season having a dip in form."

Conway expertly slotted home the penalty after Thomas Scobbie had blatantly handled Paul Dixon's deep cross towards the winger. Conway took the initiative to the frustration of striker Francisco Sandaza, who missed a late spot-kick against Hearts.

"It was going right in the top corner, I was just about to strike it sweetly," Conway joked.

"Nobody was getting the penalty off me when the ball fell at me. He (Sandaza) had the cheek to ask for it but it fell right at me so I wasn't giving it up."

Falkirk boss John Hughes refused to blame Scobbie for the defeat, which leaves the Bairns two points above bottom side Inverness.

"I feel for Thomas," Hughes said. "He's had a right hard season in terms of injuries.

"I'm not going to point the finger of blame. Tam's a warrior. He is right up there in the top half-dozen boys in this club.

"He plays with a great maturity and it's just one of those things. He tried to head it and it's caught the back of his hand."
