A murder trial was told a man died from massive loss of blood.
Pathologist John Clark told the High Court in Glasgow that Patrick Sweeney, 57, had a fractured cheekbone and jaw, seven fractured ribs on each side of his body, tears in the bowel and ribs, and was covered in bruises.
He was giving evidence at the trial of John Sweeney, 59, who denies murdering his brother last July at Patrick's home in Weir Street, Greenock.
Dr Clark was asked: "Are the injuries consistent with being assaulted by punching and kicking?"
He replied: "Yes" and added: "Death was principally from loss of blood. It is unlikely he would have survived for hours after sustaining the injuries."
The trial continues.
