The Hornets are planning to build a small spectator stand at their training ground so fans can watch games when the club joins the under-21 league structure.

The Golden Boys have applied for Category 2 status as part of the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), which would result in the club joining an under-21 league.

Supporters at one of the club’s ‘At Your Place’ events last month were told a small stand would be built at their London Colney training ground and that games would be open to the public.

Watford refused to confirm or deny if a stand would be built; adding they will not comment on issues that are discussed at their ‘At Your Place’ events.

Hertsmere Borough Council have yet to receive an application for a stand and we understand Watford are still to decide on the capacity and cost of the structure.

The confirmation of their Category 2 application is likely to be a factor and the Hornets confirmed they expect a decision on that matter within the next six months.

In July 2013 we were told the Golden Boys were considering adding a medical centre and indoor training facility to the site. The Hornets refused to comment on when the building work would start, finish and how much it would cost and we understand they are still in the early planning stages with both projects.
