The race for automatic promotion from the Championship is relentless. Bournemouth, Norwich City and Middlesbrough all clinched victories last night. The pressure is now back on Watford ahead of tonight’s game at Nottingham Forest.
The Hornets travel to the City Ground fourth in the table and three points off the top two positions.
Victory is imperative, as it was before yesterday’s results. In that sense little has changed.
The Golden Boys could move into the automatic promotion places tonight with a comprehensive victory against Dougie Freedman’s side. A three-goal winning margin would be enough to lift the Hornets into second. But that would be a bonus.
Bournemouth remain top of the division. Their 1-0 win against Reading last night moved them to 83 points. Second placed Norwich defeated Leeds United 2-0 and are on 82.
Middlesbrough sit third on 81 following their 2-1 success against Wolverhampton Wanderers. And then come the Golden Boys on 79, but with a game in hand.
