Watford’s nerves were jangling at Brighton and Hove Albion but then Craig Cathcart thumped a clearance up field and Troy Deeney chased the ball down. He looked up and saw Matej Vydra in acres of space; the Czech Republic international did the rest.
It was a goal that clinched a 2-0 victory for the Hornets at the AmEx Stadium. A little over two hours later they had clinched promotion to the Premier League.
