Watford have announced they will take on AFC Wimbledon in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 11.

The Dons will host the contest, which kicks off at 3pm, at their Cherry Red Records Stadium and the two sides will compete for the Football Manager Cup as both are sponsored by the company.

Sports Interactive studio director Miles Jacobson said: “Having Wimbledon and Watford play against each other has been a dream of mine since Wimbledon formed and we got involved. Thank you to both clubs for making that dream a reality.”

The match will take place during AFC Wimbledon's inaugural Beer Festival and Watford supporters are free to attend.

"Having the match happen during the beer festival is an even better incentive for both sets of supporters,” Jacobson added. “Let’s hope this is a glimpse into the future for when Watford versus Wimbledon is a regular fixture in the top flight.”
