Hornets goalkeeper Jonathan Bond has been named in the provisional England Under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championship finals.

The 22-year-old, who has been capped six times by England at under-21 level, made only six appearances for Watford this season but has been included by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate in his initial 27-man party.

Watford-born Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll has also been selected in the squad, which will have to be cut down to 23 players by Southgate for the Championships which will be held in the Czech Republic.

England’s first group game is against Portugal on Thursday June 18, before they take on Sweden three days later.
