Gianni Munari's loan deal at Watford ends this summer but the midfielder says he wants to remain with the Hornets next season.

The 31-year-old joined the Golden Boys on loan from cash-strapped Parma last August and went on to play 31 times in all competitions as the club sealed their place in the Premier League.

Munari was a regular starter during the first half of the campaign but lost his place in the side in February. He failed to make a single appearance following Watford’s 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic on March 17.

However, he wants to return to Vicarage Road next season and says he will discuss his future with bankrupt Parma, who face an uncertain future.

‘I’m sorry to see what has happened in Parma, I find it inexplicable and painful," Munari told Corriere dello Sport.

"But this must not affect my desire which is to stay here at Watford to play in the Premier League.

"In England there is a wonderful atmosphere and the stadiums are always full. I'll ask if there is a way [Watford and I] can continue together."
