Blackburn Rovers have not agreed a fee with Watford for Rudy Gestede but the club’s managing director Derek Shaw says the Hornets are interested in the striker.

The 26-year-old struck 22 goals for Rovers last season as Gary Bowyer’s side finished ninth in the Championship.

Reports in the national media over the weekend stated the Golden Boys had shaken hands with the Lancashire club on a £6million fee for Gestede, however, Shaw says those stories are incorrect.

Speaking to our sister paper, the Lancashire Telegraph, he said: “We have not agreed a fee with Watford but they have expressed an interest.

“Rudy is not someone we are seeking to sell but we can’t prevent clubs from showing an interest.”

Gestede arrived at Ewood Park in January 2014 after making a £200,000 move from Cardiff City.

He has gone on to score 34 times in 64 apperances and Rovers are believed to want more than £6million for the Benin international.
