The Hornets are hoping to sign full-back Allan Nyom from fellow Pozzo-owned club Udinese, the Watford Observer understands.

The 27-year-old is believed to be flying to England today to discuss terms ahead of a switch to Vicarage Road.

Nyom, a Cameroonian international who has been capped 11 times, joined Udinese in 2009 from AC Arles-Avignon but has yet to play for the Italian side.

He has spent the last six seasons on loan at Granada, a club also owned by the Pozzo family, and has helped the Nazaríes rise from the third tier of Spanish football to La Liga.

He has made more the 200 appearances for the Spanish outfit, including 38 last term.

Granada sporting director Juan Carlos Cordero confirmed yesterday that Nyom would not be returning to the south of Spain next season.

He told vavel.com: "He (Nyom) is not a Granada player and Udinese have decided he will leave, it is their choice. He will not to be given to Granada next season."

The right-back played in last summer’s World Cup against Brazil and has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Liverpool in the past.
