Watford are set to announce their next summer signing after agreeing a deal for Jose Manuel Jurado, the Watford Observer understands.

Following reports this evening claiming the Spartak Moscow player was ‘close’ to joining the Hornets, we have been told the move has been completed and Jurado has agreed a four-year contract.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder is a product of Real Madrid’s youth system but he left Los Blancos in August 2006 for city rivals Atletico Madrid after failing to break into the 'Galacticos' Real side.

He spent four years with Atleti, where he worked alongside current Hornets head coach Quique Sanchez Flores.

In 2010 Jurado left the Rojiblancos and Spain in order to switch to Bundesliga side Schalke 04. He played 71 games for Die Königsblauen before heading to Russia and Moscow, originally on loan, in September 2012.

Jurado impressed sufficiently for Spartak to make the move permanent the following summer. In total he has made 68 appearances for the club, scoring 14 times.

The Spaniard is likely to link up with his new teammates this week. Watford's squad are currently in Germany on a pre-season training camp but will fly back to the UK this evening after facing SC Paderborn 07.
