Quique Sanchez Flores has confirmed new signing Miguel Britos will miss Watford’s first two Premier League fixtures due to suspension.
The centre-back joined the Hornets from Napoli this week but did not travel to the Golden Boys’ pre-season friendly against Dundee United today as there is still paperwork that needs to be completed following his move.
However, there will be no need to rush Britos through pre-season as he is unable to play for Watford until their home game against Southampton on Sunday, August 23.
That is because of a red card he received for head-butting Juventus striker Alvaro Morata in a Serie A match in May.
The incident led to Britos being handed a three game ban but he was able to serve one of those with Napoli before the season ended.
But his suspension will now be transferred to Watford which means he will miss the opening day trip to Everton and the home match with West Bromwich Albion.
