Gabriele Angella says he has opened a “new page in the book of my career” after joining Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan from Watford.

We revealed last night that the 26-year-old would spent the rest of the campaign with the Hoops and the switch has now been confirmed.

The Italian centre-back - who signed a new five-year deal with the Hornets earlier in the summer - hasn’t featured in any of the Golden Boys’ four Premier League fixtures and wasn’t in the match-day squad for the 2-0 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.

His only appearance for Watford this season came in the League Cup defeat at Preston North End last Tuesday.

Angella spoke to the Hoops website after completing the move and said: “I am very happy for this big opportunity and I am happy to be at this great club with big history.

“I've played for two years in England and enjoyed every minute. It’s a great place to play.”

He added: “I want to help the club this season and do my best here - this is a new page in the book of my career.

“I just want to play, improve and show the fans what I can do.”

Angella is the latest player from Watford’s promotion-winning side to leave Vicarage Road this summer.

He made 36 appearances last season as the Hornets clinched their place in the Premier League under the guidance of Slavisa Jokanovic.

In total, Angella has played 82 times for the Golden Boys and has scored an impressive 11 goals.
