Lloyd Doyley is scheduled to feature for Watford’s Under-21 on Thursday as he continues his recovery from neck surgery but Hornets fans hoping to watch the side’s Professional Development League 2 South clash with Huddersfield Town will be left disappointed.

The Golden Boys have confirmed the fixture, which kicks off at 2pm, will be played behind closed doors at their London Colney training ground.

That is because Harry Kewell's side must play a minimum of three games at their training ground during their league campaign. At least three matches must also be played at Vicarage Road.

If Doyley does feature against the young Terriers it will be the first time he has been included in a match-day squad since the Golden Boys’ 2-2 draw against Derby County in the Championship in April. He hasn't played a competitive fixture for almost ten months.

The 32-year-old missed the final weeks of the previous season because of his neck injury and underwent successful surgery in May.

He has since been undertaking his rehabilitation at Watford’s London Colney training ground, despite his contract with the Golden Boys expiring at the end of June.
