West Herts got off the mark in the Men's National Hockey League East Conference following a 2-2 draw against Harleston Magpies on Saturday.

The Stags fell behind in the ninth minute when Ben Wright swept home for the hosts but the visitors quickly equalised as Dan Webster netted a penalty corner.

Adam Johnson then fired the Stags ahead shortly before the interval and it was a lead they held until the last minute of the contest when Wright struck an equaliser to ensure the points were shared.

In the East Ladies Premier Division, West Herts' side got their campaign off to an emphatic start as they defeated Tunbridge Wells 7-1.

Helen Humphrey scored from an early short corner but Wells snuck an equaliser moments later. However, the Stags hit back and a brace from Louise Smith and a goal from Anna Coppel gave West Herts a 4-1 lead at the break.

In the second period Becky Perry scored a brace and Coppel netted a second to secure the hosts's victory.

Jason Mallory's goal wasn't enough for the men's Seconds who were beaten 2-1 by East London in East League Division One. The Thirds lost 4-0 to Colchester in Division Two South.

In Division Five South West the Fourths defeated St Albans Fifths 4-2 with Arnav Rawat, Michael Jones, Tom Watts and Charlie Higgs on target.

The men's Fifths defeated Hertford Fourths 6-0 in Division Seven South West while the Sixths lost 3-2 against Hertford Fifths in Division Eight South West. The Ninths lost 6-1 to Harpenden.

The Ladies' Second side drew 5-5 with Colchester Seconds in East Division Two South. Herts' scorers were Evie Eyles, Sarah Hall, Tanita Montgomery, Carrie Osborne and Jess Perry.

There was a 1-1 draw for ladies' Thirds against Luton Town in Five Counties Premier while the Fourths defeat St Albans 4-0 in Division Three.
