Watford clinched their second bonus-point win of the season after a 55-7 victory over local rivals Chess Valley in Herts Middlesex Two on Saturday.

The hosts opened their account with winger Richard Yates scoring his first try of the season after only five minutes. Yates soon added a second showing his pace to score in the corner.

Forwards Andy Lee and Josh Wilkinson both looked particularly threatening and the two combined to send Sean Silver under the posts.

The bonus point was in sight, and soon achieved when Andy Lee broke through and passed to supporting brother Martin for his first of the afternoon.

With the last play of the half, Chess scored a deserved try through their winger.

In the second period Yates completed his hat-trick after a neat pass from Simon Bram.

Paul Dunlop added his first try of the season which was soon followed by James Powell who was once more outstanding for the hosts.

Watford's superiority at the scrum earned a pushover try for skipper Martin Lee, before Wilkinson scored a deserved try against his old club.

With time running out Wilkinson broke through only to be felled by a high tackle, resulting in a ten minute breather for the offender when many on the sideline felt red would have been more appropriate.

Watford opted for a scrum, Andy Lee running a hard line before offloading to Bram to complete a fine afternoon's work for the home side.

Fullerians were edged out after a thrilling 34-32 home defeat to Old Haberdashers in London Two North West.

The hosts started brightly and scored the opener when captain Mike Kerr crashed over following a lineout.

Old Habs immediately responded with a try of their own as the Fullers defence creaked.

Once again Fullers put their noses in front as they stretched the visitors from touchline to touchline and hooker Drew Horne was on hand to give a sneaky dummy and score in the corner.

Old Habs once again earned a penalty and levelled the score at 10-10. Fullers took the lead after picking and driving from the ruck and second row Liam Boyd was on hand to crash over.

Just before the break Old Habs got their noses in front with a well-worked try to take a 17-15 half-time lead.

In the second half Fullers continued to put pressure on Old Habs and were rewarded when second row Sam Perry crossed the line.

But the visitors responded once again and their backline went over for another score.

Boyd crashed over from short range after centre Luc Lee make a break and was well supported by flanker Richard McCabe who gave the final pass.

Habs scored again as a poor clearance kick was ran back with interest and the conversion went over to tie the match at 27-27 with five minutes left.

Habs took the lead with their fifth try as Fullers seemed to lose their concentration and fell off the tackles for them to score and convert.

Fullers scored the final try through full-back Dan Evans but the conversion which would have earned a draw missed.
