Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores believes Jurgen Klopp is still learning about the Premier League but insists his focus is on coping with Liverpool’s attacking threat.

The German has made a big impact since succeeding former Watford manager Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, winning seven of his 14 games in charge of the Reds.

However, a run of seven wins in eight through October and November has given way to three games without victory this month.

Liverpool were beaten 2-0 at Newcastle United a fortnight ago before scoring late to draw 2-2 against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday thanks to Divock Origi’s deflected injury time strike.

Asked if he could exploit the fact Klopp is relatively new to the Premier League, Flores replied: “I’m focused on Liverpool as a team. I’m not worried.

“I’m focused on the players. As managers we plan, plan, plan but the players on the pitch are the most important.

“I’m not thinking too much about the coach. I’m thinking about Adam Lallana, James Milner, Emre Can and Christian Benteke.

“This is what I need to think about more than the thoughts of Jurgen Klopp.”

The former Borussia Dortmund coach has quickly established himself as a big character on the touchline.

But his decision to lead his players, hand-in-hand, to salute the Kop after Sunday’s draw with the Baggies drew a mixed reaction.

Flores, though, is a fan of the charismatic former Mainz 05 boss.

He said: “He’s a positive manager. He’s funny, he doesn’t look under pressure, he’s educated, his philosophy is attacking and he is always thinking about scoring more goals.

“Step-by-step he’s learning about the Premier League because it’s different to the Bundesliga.

“He’s proving a lot of things and when he decides his first-choice XI Liverpool will go for the top.”

He added: “He has tried to use the younger players and during the game he changes formation. Sometimes it’s 4-1-4-1, sometimes it’s 4-2-3-1.

“In this process it looks like he wants to learn as quickly as possible about the culture of the Premier League and English football.”

Sebastian Prodl and Valon Behrami will be available for Sunday’s visit from the Reds and Flores hopes to be able to call on Almen Abdi too after the Swiss midfielder was unwell on Thursday.

He said: “He had a little bit of recovery yesterday but he’s played a lot of minutes during the season.”
