The honeymoon period at Anfield appears to be well and truly over for new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp following back-to-back winless Premier League games.

Appointed as former Watford manager Brendan Rodgers’ successor in mid-October the charismatic German had got the Reds as high as seventh thanks to wins over Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle United a fortnight ago was followed up by a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Sunday.

To make matters worse the former Borussia Dortmund coach then had the temerity to lead his players to the Kop, holding hands, and salute those supporters who had stayed long enough to see Divock Origi’s heavily deflected equaliser.

It was a small gesture the former Mainz 05 coach used to practice during his time in the Bundesliga – where he twice beat the traditional powerhouses Bayern Munch to win the league – and one which was well received at that.

Klopp has quickly got Liverpool supporters onside with his refreshing honesty, commitment to exciting, attacking football and passion.

A run of seven wins from eight in all competitions prior to the current three match winless streak contributed too and in that streak Reds supporters have seen enough to suggest the 48-year-old can return the good times to Anfield.

Watford Observer:

Jordan Henderson: The former Sunderland man's transformation from makeweight to midfielder lynchpin and heir to Steven Gerrard’s Anfield throne has been quite remarkable.

The 25-year-old Wearsider joined the Reds from his home-town club for £20 million in 2011 but initially struggled to justify the money Kenny Dalglish paid to bring him to Merseyside.

However, under Rodgers the England international steadily grew into his role and when Gerrard said farewell at the end of last season he was the natural choice to replace the club icon as captain.

Henderson, who boasts a good range of passing, great energy and work rate, will be guaranteed starter for England at next summer’s European Championships.

Watford Observer:

Philippe Coutinho: The Brazilian has become a firm favourite at Anfield thanks to his impish displays and knack for the unpredictable.

Signed by Rodgers in 2013 the 23-year-old was a bit-part player at previous club Internazionale.

The Italian club saw great potential in Coutinho when they brought him to Europe from Brazilian side Vasco de Gama in 2008.

However, he flattered to deceive at the San Siro, largely because he never commanded a settled place in the side.

But employed as a number ten throughout his two years at Anfield, Coutinho has flourished and can rightly be held up as one of the few unqualified success’ of Rodgers’ stint at the club.

Watford Observer:

Roberto Firmino: Another Brazilian playmaker, Firmino joined the Reds from Bundesligsa outfit Hoffenheim in a £29 million deal over the summer.

Signed to much acclaim the 24-year-old struggled for regular action under Rodgers, the man who signed him.

However, a dazzling display in a 4-1 win at Manchester City – in which he scored his first Liverpool – showed what Rodgers had seen in him.

Capable of playing out wide, as a number ten or – as he did at Etihad – as a conventional striker, the former Figueirense has scored four times in 11 caps for Brazil since making his debut last year.
